Orange County

Originally named Mosquito County, Orange County is considered by many Floridians to be the center of the State of Florida. The county enjoys some of the best weather in the nation, which sometimes comes at a price. The County was renamed Orange County in the mid 1800s to reflect the main industry at the time. There are very few Orange groves left in the county today. The population has grown by many analysts at an alarming rate. The last census taken by the U.S. Census Bureau reflected a population of of roughly 900,000. By 2012 this number had soared to over 1,200,000.

The Orange County Courthouse is located on Orange Avenue, between Amelia and Livingston streets. There are currently three satellite courthouses located in Apopka, Ocoee, and Winter Park, which handle misdemeanor and traffic arraignments for the cases generated from those areas.
